The Benefits of Skin Needling

Updated: Jul 27, 2022

Skin Needling or Micro Needling is one of the most popular procedures for correcting skin conditions. Used in many skin clinics and beauty salons around the world, with multiple modalities added to the treatment as well as thousands of different devices on the market. But what are the benefits? Why should you be getting the treatment done? And most importantly how does it work?

In this blog we explore the wonderful world of Skin Needling...

Background

Skin Needling is used to correct skin concerns where there is either damage to the skin (scarring or inflammation conditions), a breakdown in cell health and life (ageing, sun spots or surficial scarring) or incorrect cell function (pigmentation, acne or hair loss).

Skin Needling uses microscopic needles to penetrate the skin within the epidermis and dermis. These channels cause keratinocytes, fibroblasts and melanocytes that produce numerous growth factors to improve and normalise various skin functions. Skin needling is also known as (C.I.T) Collagen Induction Therapy which allows the body to regrow and repair the skin from the micro damage through the wound healing response. This helps stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

What are the Benefits?

Skin needling can treat a range of skin concerns such as Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Trauma Scars, Scar Tissue, Stretch Marks, Pigmentation (Vitiligo, Melasma, Hypo & Hyper), Acne, Problematic Skin, Rosacea and Enlarged Pores. And most importantly it can treat anywhere on the body so we are not just limited to the Face, Neck and Décolletage.

Because of the science behind needling it is the perfect option for all skin types as we are encouraging the natural wound healing process without causing harm or damage to the skin as it is a relatively non-invasive treatment.

How does it work?

Skin needling uses two cellular processes when correcting the skin, the regenerative process and triggering the growth factors.

The Regenerative process creates "controlled" micro-wounds to stimulate cell regeneration and renewal.

Growth Factors are stimulated from the wound healing response of the Regenerative process and stimulate the pathways that promote cell function.

This process happens in 3 phases; Inflammation, Proliferation and Maturation and can take 4-8 weeks.

When correcting skincare concerns your depth of the needle is the most crucial element of this treatment as it controls what cells we are stimulating these responses from. If we are not stimulating the correct cell we are not able to treat the concern you are needing corrected.

Why get Dermapen4 Skin Needling over other devices?

There’s simply no comparison to the Dermapen 4; it’s the most advanced Skin Needling device available. Dermapen offers the fastest needling treatment on the planet, faster means more comfort as well as superior, rapid results. Dermapen 4 glides over the skin creating millions of fine, vertical fractional channels up to 104% faster than other Needling pens. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper into the skin.

On top of that Dermapen is the only device in the world to offer a targeted Scar treatment setting to treat deep scarring such as surgical scaring and pitted acne scarring.

Not only is the device the most advanced, the DP Dermaceuticals skincare range has been specially created to support the Infusion of actives and pre/post home care, for Dermapen protocols and their world class results.

DP Dermaceuticals created a targeted delivery system called the HylaFuse complex. HylaFuse complex is clinically proven to be absorbed 150 times more effectively than other forms of Hyaluronic Acid. HulaFuse delivers targeted hydration and active ingredients to specific levels within the skin using triple molecular weighting. This means we are using the right ingredients, in the right forms, in the right doses.

It is important to remember, if you needle a product into the skin, it will go in. Just because YOU CAN needle something into the skin, doesn’t mean YOU SHOULD. Needling products formulated for topical application may contribute to the formation of infection, granulomas, nodules and the formation of scar tissue A granuloma is a collection of cells and tissue formed in response to infection, chronic inflammation and the presence of foreign bodies.

We could write about skin Needling forever, we absolutely love it in the clinic and so do our clients! if you would like to know more book in for a skin consult with one of our highly trained skin specialists!
